Calore Aqueduct - Beardo Springs
Italy
1984 | 1988
The Construction contract has required the catchment works to guarantee controlled management of the Calore Aqueduct aquifer.
Construction has overall seen the excavation of a 1,113m tunnel of 4.43m diameter with traditional methods. The first 360 m of tunnel serve to penetrate and collect the drained water. Then follows a watertight blocking device which isolates the further 565m with a perfectly sealed lining for reservoir purposes. The last 188m, with no lining, contains the calcareous aquifer and serves for drainage purposes. A 25m2 section emergency area lies between the reservoir and drainag tunnel.
